Design Blast 2009, Karlsruhe

Speaker in Design Blast 2009, International Conference at State University of Design, Media and Arts Karlsruhe

North by Northeast (and South) at JVE

Speaker in Jan van Eyck Academie's North by Northeast* *(and South). The conference explores the potential of shared lineage between graphic designers originating from the ‘margins’ (North, East, South) of the established contemporary graphic design hubs. It appears that with the growing pre-eminence of cross-border networks a transition towards a more globally uniform direction in graphic design is emerging. Or should we maybe look past aesthetic and formal characteristics and instead look for the decisive difference in the way graphic design is still produced, contextualised and placed in relation to local contexts? Speakers Konst & Teknik, Nina Støttrup Larsen, Indrek Sirkel, Kristjan Mändmaa, Kasia Korczak, Ajdin Basic, Petra Cerne Oven, Ziga Testen. Organisers Daniel van der Velden & Ziga Testen at the Jan van Eyck Academie. 20 February 2009.
